Thanks to the instructive video by Wayne Barton I finally learnt how to carve this typical swirl rosette without cracking it all over. Just a practice on a small coaster:

Key holder
Since I have been doing a lot of practice boards I realized it would be a good idea trying to use them for something useful. Just a little add on created a neat chip carved key holder.
It is finished with dark mahogany gel stain:
