Norse Gods woodspirits

Three woodspirits carved in cottonwood bark. They are all based on my older work, I just wanted to practice my face carving skills. Two pieces portray Odin and one is Thor, they are between 14.5 to 16 inches in height:

Woodspirits of Norse Pantheon

Four woodspirits carved in large pieces of cottonwood bark, they are all inspired by Norse Mythology. I've been working on those for last 2 months, creating two versions of Odin, then Thor and Freyja. They are finished naturally with only a touch of gel stain on the eyes and runic inscriptions.

''Odin Hangagud'' is 19 inches in height, 6 inches on the widest point.

The runes read ''I trow I hung on that windy tree, nine whole days and nights'' and is from Hovamol. It is after deciding on this quote I decided on the ''God of the hanged'' name:

The second Odin is named ''Odin Wanderer'' and is in a bit smaller piece of bark, having 16 inches in height and 5.5 inches on the widest point. This carving has neat bark cracks along it, the runes simply refer to the name of the woodspirit. It is the only carving I have currently for sale from this batch of woodspirits, You can check it here:

''Woodspirit of Freyja'' with Aegishjalmur chip carved on the top of her headband. I was looking for some suitable quote from Edda that I could carve in runes but eventually decided on the traditional symbol with Futhark around it. I still need to work a lot on my skills with female face carvings but it is so far my best one. She is also done in 16 inches on 5.5 inches piece of bark:

 ''Woodspirit of Thor'' with his Mjöllnir done in 20 inches on 6 inches piece of cottonwood bark. The hammer is carved in the same piece. I sanded the runes and knot on the hammer a bit more after finishing it with the first coat of lacquer to give it a bit distinction as I didn't want to use gel stain on it:

Large Deku Link in cottonwood bark

The second carving of Deku Link from The Legend of Zelda game.

This time it is done as a wall decoration rather than a standing figure and the whole figurine

is a part of the big bark which has 18'' in height and 6'' in width:

Etsy spring pop up market in Charlottetown

A spring pop up market of Etsy vendors from PEI is going to happen this Saturday.

The two Etsy events last year were a great success and I believe this one will be as well.

Deku Butler's Son from The Legend of Zelda

Small figurine carving of Deku Butler's Son from the game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

It is in the round carving in cottonwood bark and it stands 7.5'' tall.

The piece was carved as a custom request and is not for sale.

Odin the One-eyed

A large cottonwood bark woodspirit carving portraying Odin with runic inscription above the head.

This piece named ''Odin the One-eyed'' is 18'' in height.

The runes read ''Runes shalt thou find and powerful signs'', it is taken from Hávamál.

Deku Link - Legend of Zelda carving

A small figure of Deku Link from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

Hand carved in a single piece of cottonwood bark, it stands 6.5'' tall.

Odin the wanderer

Odin the wanderer - a wood spirit carved in 12'' cottonwood bark.

My second interpretation of Odin, I have some other ideas I want to try and I also want

to carve some other gods from Norse mythology in future.

The runic inscription reads ''Allfather Odin'' on the top and ''The Wanderer'' under the beard.

A tiny coat of dark mahogany gel stain was used on the runes to show them clearer:

22'' hand carved ''Woodspirit of Souris'', done in driftwood found in Souris, PEI:

Kodama - tree spirits

Two carvings of Kodama spirits from Princess Mononoke done in cottonwood bark.

Both pieces are about 10'' in height with Kodama spirits about 5'' tall:

North Shore Woodspirit

24'' driftwood found on PEI, thus ''North Shore Woodspirit'':

Odin - wood spirit

Hand carved Odin wood spirit in a large piece of cottonwood bark.

It has 17.5'' in height, 6.5'' in width and 3'' in thickness, I didn't hollow the bark so it weights almost 1.3 kg.

It is the very first carving inspired by Norse mythology I have done:

Woodspirit in Spalted Birch

After a very long time I got to carve a free form wood spirit.

It is done in a piece of spalted birch from PEI, 19'' tall and 7'' wide:

Wabbajack - Elder Scrolls

Fully hand carved Wabbajack staff, the daedric artifact of Sheogorath from the Elder Scrolls series.

It has 54'' in length and is carved by the Skyrim artwork:
