Woodspirit in Spalted Birch

After a very long time I got to carve a free form wood spirit.
It is done in a piece of spalted birch from PEI, 19'' tall and 7'' wide:

Considering how long it's been since I did the last face carving I am very happy with the result.
The birch piece was very unusual so I was really worried I'd ruin it.

The wood hardness changed from inch to inch, from very hard parts to parts with almost 'cork gumminess', which were especially frustrating to carve. But in the end it is surely one of my favorite carvings.
