Intricate chip carving on a basswood mirror

A very detailed chip carving done on a 12'' hand-held basswood mirror, it took quite a few hours to finish this particular piece. To see the work in progress click on ''read more''.



Just the design for this carving took a lot of time, I had to do the parts around the edges and on the handle without a compass or any ruler so that was quite new for me. The center of the back side was fairly simple to do:
