Chip carving done in 12'' basswood bowl.
The design consists of 5-pointed rosette flowers and free form leaves:
I found it very hard to carve inside the round edge, but it was very satisfying in the end.
There wasn't much room on the outside rim so at least I carved 'diamond' border all along:
The salad bowl finish was applied on the end, three coats and each of them rebuffed.
The finished bowl is 100% food safe.
