Little bark carving

I haven't done too many new houses recently but because I've just sent a bunch to a gallery in New Brunswick I will need to pick up the game!
Here is one small piece named ''Swallows Rafters'', it is 9 inches tall:

Heart once again

And here we go again - ''Home is where the Heart is'', this time done in a 15.5 inches large piece of bark and also finished with red cherry gel stain:

Large cottonwood bark houses finished with gel stain

Three large carvings done in cottonwood bark finished on some parts with red cherry gel stain. I like how this adds distinction without losing the grain patterns underneath.
The first piece is named "The Archives'' and the stain is on both parts of the roof. It is 17 inches tall carving:

The second one is named ''Lighthouse of the Rocky Island'' and is 18.5 inches tall:

Old Little Lighthouse

Well this 16'' piece is literally ''Old Little Lighthouse'' because it is carved back in 2015!
I had it installed on a frame with a water colour painting in the background and it looked pretty neat, the problem is I was never able to bring it anywhere to display as it was so different from my other carvings and I just didn't have room for it. So eventually I decided to take the lighthouse off the frame and I named it as mentioned in the title. I will either have it for sale in my Etsy shop soon or I will bring it to some show in the spring.

Two larger pieces done in cottonwood bark

Two pieces done few months back but never posted, one is a large lighthouse with a really unique base and another was a custom carving of a tower inspired by the movie Tangled.

The ''North Wind Lighthouse'' is 21 inches tall:

And the ''Final Step Tower'' is 17 inches:

High above the Clouds

...is the name of this large 23 inches tall cottonwood bark carving:

Home is where the Heart is... number?

This is probably my 6th or so cottonwood bark carving of a house with a heart carved underneath, it is once again named the same ''Home is where the Heart is''. But this one will be the last one for a while as I don't have any other suitable piece of bark at the moment.

Whimsical cottonwood bark Boat

My third boat carving done in cottonwood bark, it is done as before in one piece of bark cut into two pieces, then reattached to create the right dimension. This boat is named ''Of the Elven Adventure'' and it is 9 inches in height and 15 inches long:

The holder for the acorn is carved in something unknown, I think it is a piece of walnut.
It took me forever to do the attachment right, it was kind of embarrassing.

The front view:

And the back view:

Well, what is the name of this one?

I realized I named the photos of this carving in my folder by two different names and now I don't know which one is the actual name. This piece is at the local farmers market so I will need to check it out on my next shift. It is either named ''Beast Tamer Cottage'' or ''By the Silent Lake''

Summer Breeze House

The newest large carving with a long ladder on it, this one is quite unique because of the natural ledge that was asking for having a roof window in it:

Houses by the lupins

Well, it's PEI so it is necessary to take some photographs by the bloomed lupins.
''The House of Nature's Nest'' is 11.5 inches tall:

And ''Quiet Retreat Cottage'' is around 10 inches:

Just more houses for summer...

With warm weather there comes the need for carving more of cottonwood bark pieces for the upcoming summer season. Here is 18 inches piece named ''The Sorcerers of Spring House'' which couldn't even make it to the market as my neighbour bought it:

And smaller ''Dragon Tooth House'':

Teddy Bear Guardians of 2018

I finally carved two new Teddy Bear Guardians! It's been a while since I did the last one.
These guys have glass eyes on them so they look way sharper than my older carvings. Both carvings are around 7.5 inches tall with the base included. The fella on the left is named Mitchell and the one on the right is Bryson:
