Chip carving done in 12'' basswood plate, finished with honey maple gel stain.
The center is 12 pointed rosette with incorporated foliage design and the quote around the plate is from the book Thus spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche (though the quote itself is paraphrased and was said slightly differently by other philosophers before Nietzsche).
