Teddy Bear Guardians

The very first wave of my raising army of Teddy bear guardians, I was waiting to have few of them done.
They are all carved out of cottonwood bark - from left to right: William, Ben and Freya of the bark shield:

Heart Within

12'' cottonwood bark carving ''Heart Within''.
It is carved out of a single piece of bark, the heart is fully released inside, the same way as the traditional ball in a cage - so the heart can be moved with but cannot be taken out:

Chip carved Serving tray and Coasters

My first carving of 2014 - chip carving done in basswood serving tray and 4 basswood coasters.
The tray is 21'' x 9'', about 1.25'' high and the coasters are 4'' in diameter.
The whole set took about 26 hours of work, which includes the design, carving and finishing.

Tarot box for Alison

A commissioned chip carved keepsake basswood box, finished in dark mahogany.
The box is supposed to keep a deck of tarot cards but it can be obviously used for anything else.
The design is combination of my most favorite styles - free form foliage of oak leaves and acorns,
Gothic 'diamond' borders and Gothic lettering (though just one letter).
Dark mahogany gel stain finish is also something I enjoy a lot.

Cottonwood bark Snowman

Snowman hand carved into a 13'' piece of cottonwood bark:
